Painterly Pastels
Started a fun play on colourfux paper tonight. Keeping it lose and painterly. I love doing close ups of faces...this is something I may do more of. I am wanting to get a handle on the papers and how they work best.
Old discoveries!
Found some old charcoal sketches from years ago when I pulled out my old charcoal pad. Flashback!
Oodles of doodles and WIPs....
Sometimes I doodle things. Sometimes those things aren't portfolio worthy, but I still enjoy them, and sharing their stories.
Works in progress, unfinished work, doodles done at work...
I think I will put those here. Just for fun! A few at a time, with stories of what/why/etc they are what/why they are. As the new ones come, old ones go. It's like a blog gallery, that is ever changing.

A dark picture of some ATCs I have done at work. I work mostly in computer screen light overnight, so sometimes seeing them in the light of day is completely different!
Playing with pastels and nudes. This one started out a lot more interesting than I thought it would. Cannot wait to continue with it.
The Virgin. Mostly done, I just need a better photo. Was a joke pose my man ended up in while he was looking for a comfy pose I could sketch from. It was too hilarious not to do. I found out I really like this color paper for flesh tones. Too bad it is the Selinnier LaCarte...and, not always in the budget in larger sizes! Ha!
The Portrait Book - first few pages: I have a small sketchbook that is thick but only about 4 by 5 inches. I have this goal to fill it with all portraits. Thus far I only have about 5. Some of them I have done from the cop portraits from the pictures in the hallway of my work. I need to do some more, but I have been leaving the sketchbook at home lately.
hahaha. Typical me doodle. Mouths in stomachs will make more appearances in more finished work. But this was playing with pans on canson paper, not my normal pastelmat. Cheaper! I think I also had a few glasses of wine. lol
At Masquerage some years ago I saw an amazing queen dressed to impress with fantastic hair, silver makeup, and disco ball bazingas. I captured a photo I always wanted to turn into a painting. This...is the WIP of my first attempt. I am not sure how I am going to finish it, it has been sitting alone for a while, poor thing.
Maybe I should break her out of hiding and have some fun...

A small doodle at work testing out pastelmat paper (amazing paper) with pencils. Long story short, awesome. Sad thing is...this started off being a doodle of a cop's picture from many of our illustrious LEO from back in the day that line my PD's walls. Then...I just had to give him earrings...and it went from there. Sorry, whoever you are, but you were really fun to play with!!
